Background
I graduated both my bachelor’s and master’s degree in Medicine with honours at the Leiden University Medical Center. Since I wanted to combine my longstanding interests in neurology and research, in 2025 I started my PhD trajectory at the neurology department of the Erasmus Medical Center.
My main research interest is to improve patient care and quality of life of patients with Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy (CIDP).
Projects
My thesis focuses on clinical research in inflammatory neuropathies, in particular CIDP. The main aim is to optimise the diagnostic trajectory and maintenance therapies in CIDP through trials and other clinical studies.
CIDP is a rare disease with various clinical presentations and symptoms similar to those seen in some other neuromuscular diseases, thus making it challenging to distinguish. Therefore, I try to find better diagnostic parameters for CIDP. In addition, I try to further enhance individualised treatment.

Study on CIDP
Background:Chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIDP) is a disease of the peripheral nerves. These nerves provide the connection between the brain, the muscles and skin. We do not know exactly how CIDP arises. The idea is that an immune reaction against the nerves arises due to an unknown cause. This causes gradual loss of strength, loss […]

Study on CIDP
International CIDP Outcome Study (ICOS) In this study, we investigate the variation and predictors of the disease course in chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyradiculoneuropathy (CIDP). Background CIDP is a rare condition caused by inflammation of the nerves. This causes complaints of loss of strength and sensory disturbances in the arms and legs. These complaints usually develop […]
