My thesis | June 2022
You will find an overview and description of my projects in my thesis:
My background
After finishing my Master Degree in Medicine at the VU University Amsterdam, I worked as a resident at the Neurology Department at the OLVG Hospital in Amsterdam.
Subsequently I started my PhD trajectory at the Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS) study group at the Erasmus MC in Rotterdam.
I successfully defended my thesis on infections and GBS syndrome in June 2022 and have started my residency as a Clinical Microbiologist at the Erasmus MC in 2021.
My expertise lies in the interface between neurological disease and infectious disease.
My projects
I have been involved in several projects on preceding infections in GBS. We have looked at preceding infections in patients included in the International GBS Outcome Study (IGOS), the relationship between Zika virus and GBS and the relationship between COVID-19 infection and -vaccination and GBS.
Currently I am also involved in projects involving other diseases besides GBS, including a study on virological causes of encephalitis, and a study on Rabies virus infection in Bangladesh.
