My background

In 2016, I completed my residency in neurology and clinical neurophysiology and began working in the Clinical Neurophysiology Department at Erasmus Medical Centre in Rotterdam. During this time, I met Prof. Bart Jacobs and worked with Dr Judith Drenthen. Due to our shared interests in neuromuscular diseases and clinical neurophysiology, I commenced a PhD program under their guidance. In 2020 I started working in The Haga Hospital in The Hague, in the Department of Clinical Neurophysiology.

My projects

The focus of our project is on electrophysiology in Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS), utilizing data from the International Guillain-Barré Syndrome Outcome Study (IGOS). Despite extensive research over the past decades, several crucial questions remain unanswered. For instance, what is the exact role of electrophysiology in GBS? Does electrodiagnostic subtyping provide any prognostic information for patients? Given the large cohort of patients in IGOS with long-term follow-up data and the availability of several factors such as ganglioside antibodies, preceding infections, and clinical data, we aim to address these questions.

Research focus

My research focuses on GBS and CIDP.
