PhD student

My background

I obtained my medical degree at the Erasmus University in Rotterdam.

In 2017, I started as PhD-candidate at the department of Neurology at the Erasmus University Medical Center in Rotterdam.

I worked as a resident neurology not in training (ANIOS) at the Franciscus Hospital in Rotterdam/Schiedam in 2021.

Subsequently, I worked as a resident neurology at the Erasmus University Medical Center, where I started my residency training in neurology (AIOS) in 2022.

My main interest is in neuro-muscular diseases.

My projects

My PhD trajectory focuses on clinical studies on the epidemiology, diagnosis and treatment of CIDP.

Diagnosis of CIDP is difficult, because it is a rare disorder with a diverse clinical presentation. Patients with CIDP can be treated, but the response to treatment varies between patients and it is unclear which treatment strategy is the most effective in individual patients. Even the exact frequency of CIDP is unknown.

The main aims of my research are to define the epidemiology of CIDP, to determine the current clinical practice, and to improve the diagnosis and treatment of CIDP, in The Netherlands.
