Paediatric neurologist

My background

I am a neurologist and paediatric neurologist and feel fortunate to be able to work in the Erasmus MC – Sophia Children’s hospital where I can combine clinical care for children with neurological disorders with teaching and research.

My projects

I see children with Guillain Barré syndrome and CIDP from our region and also as second opinions from other colleagues.

We aim to include children in the clinical studies for inflammatory neuropathies as much as we can, so that they will also benefit from the data being gathered.

We also specifically study the phenotype of children as it differs from adults and look for biomarkers and outcomes in children. These diseases can have an enormous impact on children, and even though they recover better than adults, there can still be residual problems that need our attention.
