My background
I have a background in Applied Mathematics and graduated in 2018. As a child I always dreamed of becoming a doctor. Although I did not become a doctor, working at IGOS/Neurology is the perfect combination of my original dream and my background; I work in a medical environment and use my mathematical skills for academic purposes. I started as a data manager at IGOS in 2018.
My projects
As a data manager I am responsible for large databases, used by researchers worldwide. I check and prepare data, select eligible patients for different studies and create scripts for analyses. I am the go-to person when brainstorming about a full range of statistical analyses and perform part of those analyses as well.
I have experience with survival and competing risk analyses, prognostic models, regression analyses and machine learning using clinical data, creating heatmaps with results from glycoarray testing, management of a large biobank and have some basic knowledge of GWAS output.
